Bailey here.. lets get to the point. Are you looking for a friend that will always listen and always make you laugh? Well, look no further! I look at life as one big party. I don't let things get to me and I don't like to dwell on things that are in the past. Today is a new day and I am keeping my chin up and my tail waggin'! I came here in July of 08 and I have figured out that this isn't so bad. I get cookies, I have learned to sit (well, learning to sit!), they say my leash manners are improving. And look at that face? What more could you ask for? I am a big guy about 80 pounds but I'll still climb right up on your lap and kiss your face! I am only a year old and have already been neutered. You get the leash and we'll go for a walk. I'll show you all the best places to sniff! |

Hello Friend. My name is Twinkie. I came to the HSMC in July of 2008. I am not sure why but my family decided they didn't want me anymore so they turned me out on the streets. Luckily an Animal Control Officer picked me up and took me to the pound where I would be safe. I stayed there for a while but my family never even bothered to come looking for me, so I was able to come here. When I first came in I was a little self conscious. You see, I have a tiny weight problem. The vet said I am about 45 pounds overweight so they put me on a strict diet. No pizza. No Burgers. No Tacos. Nothing but diet food- yuck! I have already lost 10 pounds and while the food is not so great - think cardboard- I do have to admit I am feeling so much better. The last time I went for a check up I rode the whole way with my head out the window. I haven't done that in years!! I love going for walks not just to help me drop more pounds but just to see what is going on in the world. Maybe you are looking for a walking buddy. I can't do a marathon yet but maybe together we could take on the challenge! Come on by and lets get started! Oh and by the way I am 4 years old, spayed, and current on my vaccines. I love everybody- dogs, cats, kids! |

My name is
Mary. As you
can see I am a gorgeous shep/collie mix. I am 7 or 8 years old, I lost count! I have been spayed and had
my shots. I came to the shelter in 2007. I was staying in
the woods behind a house, where a family was kind enough to leave food
for me every night. They tried to find my owners but I knew they would
never find them. Soon, I came to the shelter and it took a few weeks for
me to get used to it here. The best thing about this place is all the
people who come by just to take us out for walks! I never would have
imagined that there could be so many nice people in the world. I still
get a little overwhelmed and nervous when I meet new people but everyone
says I am doing much better. I really just need someone who can be
patient with me and help me learn to trust again. I hope you will come
to the shelter and visit with me and all of my friends! Update 8-08: Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great summer. Mine was okay - had my first swim in a kiddie pool. Kinda scary but if felt so good! I have met lots of new friends and still crossing my paws that my person will find me soon! Update 6-09: When I heard that it was time to update my story, I couldn't believe another year had almost gone by! I am still hoping I will find a real home like I hear the other dogs talking about. I try so hard to be a brave girl and make new friends but it is still hard for me sometimes. I do enjoy when people sit with me- no pressure for me to do anything. Sometimes it is just nice to have company. It'll be my turn one day- I just know that it will. Until then- the food is good, the bed is comfy, and the cookies keep on coming! Have a great summer! |
